Interactive Resignalling

With recent developments in technology relating to the construction and usage of Virtual Models Track Access Services have continued to open up new possibilities for route modernisation and re-signalling projects. What has appeared is the ability to construct and deliver VR models into an interactive user environment.

Two stages exist, initially the track layouts are created and refined in the Track Data Editor environment  then, the model is promoted into the simulation environment where results are examined. This approach allows for construction and prototyping of new track conditions where the users may design layouts and try different strategies. Thus, scheme planning and positioning of assets can be adjusted making it is possible to move the projected route designs forward into a working simulation of real train operating conditions.

Once the models are promoted into the simulation environment many new aspects of track conditions can be examined including changes in weather conditions, seasons, times of day, the implications of low adhesion. The organisation and running of the simulations allow the testing of the many routes which comprise a scheme, and allows the addition of multiple rail vehicles simultaneously running through the new signalling designs. This two stage approach offers high capacity tools at each stage. For the track design and modernisation the Track Data Editor Tool provides a comprehensive user interface to facilitate changes within scalable levels of modelling reality. Completed models can be driven on simple desktop control equipment, where the train controls are offered to the user in a user tool palette, or moved into a fuller simulation environment which offers the possibility of allowing routes to be driven using class specific rail vehicles. This exciting area of development is extending the value and potential of Virtual Modelling in railway redesign by connecting the engineering phases with the use of Simulation Training, now appearing with most of the UK Train Operators.

Key Routes

Key Routes are a convenient new way to store the Track Access Route Library and all your TA Route Learning Systems. Easy to store and light weight Keys allow you to carry your TA Route Learning Systems everywhere you go, then Plug and Play into any computer or laptop using a USB port. Full Route Learning Systems can be loaded onto the key for complete Driver Training Packages.

International Congress on Transport Safety

Since 2005 the Deutsche Bahn AG / DB Training organises in cooperation with the Centre for Traffic Sciences at the University of Würzburg an annual International Congress on “Transport Safety”. During this congress the different approaches to transport safety in times of international cooperation, liberalisation and new technologies are discussed.

The main objective of the two day congress is that representatives with scientific and applied background as well as responsible persons of several transport areas come together and give one another during lectures and discussions input for the daily work. Track Access Services are always pleased to take part in this exhibition.

DB Simulation

The DB Training simulators for train drivers enable highly realistic training of driving manoeuvres in both regular operations and in case of faults. The primary targets are to practice safe and reliable application of railway operating regulations, vehicle technology and safe reactions in stress situations.
